What is Reiki, why should you learn it, and how I fell into being a Reiki Master.

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique that promotes healing in the body. It is a tool you can learn to help transform your stress, anxiety, and trauma.

I remember the first time someone told me about Reiki. The person’s description was confusing and the only thing I really understood was she thought it was magical and mind blowing. Internally I snorted and thought yeah, okay whatever, I don’t have time for this woo woo nonsense.

Fast forward two years, and I was at a yoga studio offering Reiki sessions. At this point I had totally forgotten all about that initial conversation and just thought, huh that sounds so familiar. Hilariously, I brought it up to the person who had told me about Reiki initially and she exclaimed excitedly that she practiced Reiki and loves it, and it all came flooding back to me.

At this point advertisements for Reiki sessions and classes started popping up in different areas of my life. I decided I should check out a class just to see what it was all about. So I attended Reiki Level 1 and it turned out it wasn’t woo woo nonsense, it was amazing.

I learned the basics of energy work, something I knew nothing about. I started practicing on myself and felt so calm afterwards. So I started practicing with anyone I knew who would let me and was ecstatic to hear how peaceful and at ease they felt afterwards.

In 2016 I completed my Reiki training. I have learned numerous other natural tools since then, but Reiki is still one of the most important tools I have for myself and in my clinical practice. It helps gently relax the body and can help you emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually (if that’s your jam, I know plenty of atheists who practice Reiki).

I’ve been teaching since 2017 and it is still one of my favorite things on the planet to do. Watching people gain confidence about working on themselves and sharing that with others is one of the most special things I have ever witnessed.

My next Reiki Level 1 class is going to be Saturday, July 15th. You can check out more details here if you would like to start your Reiki journey.

I’m interested in Reiki training but cannot take this class. Wondering if it is recorded or could I schedule a class with you that works 1:1 with our schedules (since you know my schedule is insane)?

    What do you think?
